The Pride of Andover Awards has united with the Mayor of Test Valley in a bid to uncover the town’s unsung heroes.
The annual awards scheme has joined forces with the Mayor for the first time to ensure as many inspiring people as possible are recognised for their outstanding contribution to the local community.
The stand-alone Mayor’s Award is not accepting nominations like the well-established Pride of Andover Awards, but the winner will be chosen from the numerous community groups and programmes that the Mayor has visited throughout the year.
The launch of the Mayor’s Award alongside the other Pride of Andover award categories is a further way of celebrating the selfless activity that goes on in and around the local community, making Andover a truly wonderful place to live.
Iris Anderson, the Mayor of Test Valley says: “The Pride of Andover Awards is an important scheme for giving due recognition to the many that go above and beyond the call of duty.”
“I visit many community schemes around Andover that enrich people’s lives and support people in need. I am delighted to be able to say thank you to those people who have set up these amazing programmes in our local area.”
Nominations for The Pride of Andover Awards are still open until 31st August and can be made via www.prideofandoverwards.org.uk.
Each winner will be automatically nominated for the Spirit of Andover Award. Sponsored by the awards main sponsors David Mellor Jewellers, the title recognises an individual or group who have really gone above and beyond to give something back to the local community.
